Time to get your book out of your head and officially published?

Is it time for you to get your book out of your head and officially published?

If you answered "yes", then look no further.  This workshop might be just what you need.
(Also available via correspondence, at R1 200).

See below this image for What qualifies me to guide you.

Please note: Prices subject to change, without prior notification

What qualifies me to guide you?
Apart from various training programmes, I have authored two books:

1. Success; it's your choice
This book was self-published in 2003 and approved by The Department of Education, for the school curriculum (for Life Orientation) in 2006.

2. In Mekaar Se Skoene
This is my book on Empathy.  I focus on this wonderful virtue and how it could transform various relationships.  It was published by national publishing house: Naledi (in December 2011) and has landed me a regular slot on radio (RSG), as Empathy & Relationship Expert.

And now I dream of adding Founder of a National Publishing House to my name.

Should you have any enquiries, you are welcome to contact me: info@andeline.co.za

Best wishes.

Some of my pet peeves when it come to business relationships

Empathy and Respect in business, are priceless.

I love helping people when I can. The number one thing about this, that one should master, is to not expect anything in return, not even a “thank you.” This will ensure that you are not disappointed. I think that I've mastered this.

However, what I do not understand, is that some people get out there and proclaim that they've known it all along and had no guidance whatsoever. Why then ask questions on various occasions, when you knew everything all along?

I guess that nobody could get pass their conscience – hopefully.

We could all learn from one another and it is an honourable thing to give credit when it is due.

Because of various negative experiences, have made the decision to be more selective when it comes to helping people. Recently, I have done my best to assist someone by utilising my resources as PR Consultant, not expecting anything in return. Photographs were taken, but before images were uploaded on Facebook, I was neatly cropped out (cut out) of the images. I was the only person of colour in those images.  This made me wonder whether I was considered as "not good enough" to be in the images that were posted on Facebook - Ironic, especially when I was the only one who provided support.  Strange...

I was shocked and asked this individual why I was cropped out of the images. They were immediately on the defence, saying that they are not a racist – as if I said that they were. I referred them back to my email where I asked a simple “why?”, without any accusations. Their response certainly caught me by surprise. Everything that I was still willing to do, vanished...just like that.

Yes, we still have a lot of issues around race relationships in South Africa. This is why, when I can assist people, I always look for different races, making sure that I assist a white individual, a black individual, a coloured individual, etc.

To “like” or not to “like”
If you want me to “like” your Facebook page, you have to like mine – unless you are someone whom I admire and I chose to “like” your page, because I was inspired to do so. This also means that I will “unlike” a few pages that I currently “like” and “like” a few that I do not “like” already.
Do not ask me to “like” the page of your friend whom I do not know.

My PR Services
Do not ask me for the contact details of journalists, producers, etc., unless we have some business support agreement. If we do not have such an agreement and are not going to establish such an agreement (which is mutually beneficial), you should make use of my services as PR Consultant.

Speaking for exposure
Many speakers are asked to speak at a function (for free) and in return they are promised exposure. Like many speakers, I too have done this, but I got to that stage where I am no longer desperate for someone else to give me exposure, because I know how to get exposure for myself.

My time is just as valuable as yours and not many people are aware of the amount of time that goes into preparing one's speech. And as a speaker, you have to look great when standing in front of an audience, and that costs money.  As speakers we look at our schedules and decide (perhaps a year in advance) how many times in the following year we can afford to speak for free or at a reduced rate.  Allow me the privilege to make this decision and do not simply expect me to do so. It is disrespectful.

Since we all want to grow our businesses, you have to consider options that will be valuable to the other party, in return for speaking at that reduced rate.  "Exposure at your function", is not good enough for me.
And most people already have specific charities that they support; I have founded one.

Promises, promises, promises
Do not make promises that you cannot keep or do not intend keeping. And just because nobody comes to you to ask you about what you have promised them, doesn't mean that they do not wonder about it.

Everybody could quote religious phrases on their Facebook page. That however, is no guarantee that they necessarily live a very religious life or that treating others in the way that they would like to be treated, is a priority to them.  Let's face it, some people do abuse religion when they think that it is convenient to do so or when they want to cover up their real motive, which is about grabbing and taking what they can.  When they are done, they chuck you aside.

And of course, not all of these people pretend to be hugely religious - some pretend to be interested in doing respectful business, when, to them, it is only about "what's in it for me?"

About Feedback
When you give feedback, be honest or do not give feedback at all. You cannot deny it later, because you feel that the feedback given, would perhaps make you look like "less of an expert."  And worse: your integrity will be questioned.

About Endorsements and Recommendations
It is one thing to endorse someone's skill(s) and quite another to write a recommendation. I believe that in order to write a recommendation for someone, one would have to have experienced their great service in some way or another.

Over a period of about two months, I've received three requests to write a recommendation on LinkedIn.  At first I thought to simply ignore the request, because I do not know the person well enough to write a recommendation. I received the third request last week and decided to respond, saying that I only recommend those who's services I have experienced in some way and that I thought that it would be unethical of me to write one, when this was not the case.

Of course, we cannot work with- or support EVERYBODY. Let's identify those individuals who would make the best match for your business, but more importantly, let's focus on building business relationships that are mutually beneficial; relationships that are built on respect and trust.

Do not use people, thinking that they are stupid and won't even notice.  Believe me, they always do – And they will talk about it behind your back.

IN CONCLUSION:
Every individual has the right and responsibility to step up, speak up, be assertive and not allow themselves to be used.  Exercise your right and responsibility.  It will save you from getting unnecessary business headaches.

Best wishes on your business journey.

Confirmation, received and accepted with grace

An Author / Speaker was born.

I received the most wonderful telephone call on Thursday; an invitation to a book launch.  To hear that you have been an inspiration to someone and that they have accomplished their dream because of what you, because of how you inspired them, is huge.

That call and the launch that I attended yesterday was confirmation that I am doing exactly what I am supposed to do.  I receive and accept that confirmation with grace, but I know that it doesn't even belong to me, but to my Creator and to Cornelius Smal himself for making the decision to turn his dream into reality.

His proud parents: Mrs. Smal and Dr. Pieter Smal, together with his two brothers, make for a fantastic support system.

Andeline & author, Cornelius Smal.

The cover image of the book.

The title: "Sparky se Kringe in die Knysna", deur Cornelius Smal.

A number of years ago, while exploring the Knysna woods, Cornelius got separated from the group. With bruises, cuts, a dislocated shoulder and severely dehydrated, he wondered whether he'll get out of there alive. His experience gave birth to a wonderful book, in which he also gives tips on survival.  A great read that I'll recommend to anyone, including the youth.

Youngsters making it happen for themselves

Being one of the speakers at the Queens of Media Event, hosted by- and for students at Damelin, was indeed a proud moment for me.  A wonderful event, organised by Jarvas Mahlangu and his team.

If all the youth, could be as pro-active as these youngsters, whom I was privileged to meet, then there is hope to build a wonderful country.

The Speakers at the event

Tumelo Mothotoane, Neo Ntsoma, Andeline Williams-Pretorius and Ntombikayise Phiri.

It was wonderful to be one of the speakers, together with radio presenters and photo journalist.  This is all because of my programme: Grow Your Personal Brand or Business By Getting Great Publicity.  What a winner, this programme of mine?

Click this link to read my article with the same title for what I focus on when presenting this fantastic programme:

Andeline on stage presenting her talk.

I was deeply touched when I became aware of the objective of the event.  Students realising that they have to see what they could do for themselves to make sure that they are better equipped for the job-market.  To learn skills to ensure that they are able to do something else, while waiting to get the job that they studied for.

Some of the students, listening to my talk.

These students are speaking my language.  I am very excited about our youth and about these students and all others taking such initiative, because when I was their age, I was still struggling with a crippling lack of self-esteem and lack of assertiveness.  And here they are...doing such fantastic work.  How fabulous is that.  I wish them the best, because they deserve it.

Earlier this year, after graduating myself, I wrote a blog post about the new graduate, about how, when they struggle to find employment, how they are unable to re-invent themselves.  You can see this blog post further down, titled:
"You are a new graduate; now what?"

The Wellness & Networking Event For Women

Come and celebrate Spring at The Wellness & Networking Event For Women.

As I am preparing to get everything ready for this year's event, I realise that this event is about giving back - giving back to those who support me, those who are always ready with a kind and caring word.

Thank you.

It is because of you that I can host this event for every woman who can benefit from it, women working in the corporate market or those with their own business.

With this event, I focus on all aspects of women's well-being.  Delegates are treated to informative and inspirational talks by experts in their respective fields.

I am meeting with the Legal Expert who'll be speaking at the event, this morning.  I've learnt so much from her, and am excited about what she'll be sharing with delegates on the day of the event.  What I can say about her speciality at this moment, is that she specialises in Civil matters.

Think about those important things that most women tend to neglect when it comes to business or personal relationships, the contracts, the terms & conditions, and a whole lot more of the important legal stuff.

Our legal expert will answer all your questions after her talk.  I will share more about her and her company soon.

Our Psychological expert to speak at this years event, is a regular Psychologist on 3 Talk.

As a future Psychologist, I have the utmost respect for her and have admired her for a long time.  Then I got the opportunity to meet her.  We spoke, I asked her and she said yes.

It is important for me to take the time to select speakers I know would add value to the lives, relationships and careers of my delegates.  This is just one of the ways, I wish to thank you for all your support, because your support has hugely contributed to my journey and where I am today.

I am excited about our Expert who will share her inspirational journey of surviving cancer.  I met this woman and had that instant liking in her.  She was so positive and inspirational.  I got to know her and it was only much later that I realised that she was a cancer survivor.  Well, you'll be inspired.

At this year's event, I will focus on: Wolf At The Back Door Syndrome and how to manage and successfully survive this phenomenon.

How fabulous is our friend: GOOGLE?  When you google this phrase, my article comes up.  Thank you, Google.

At every event, we also have a medical expert, who does voluntary blood pressure checks.  As women, we are very busy and often taking care of everybody else, before putting ourselves on our to-do list.

This sadly also applies, when it comes to important medical check-ups. If you want the expert to test your blood-pressure, she'll be happy to do it and advise you accordingly.

I am proud to say that at previous events we have "saved" a few lives.  Many who had high blood pressure, had no idea about it.

I care about my delegates very much and want you to be the best that you can be.

I will share more information about all the experts next time.

Our good bag products are also coming in.  That is fantastic.

Everybody loves a "goodie" bag and to stand to win a prize
You are welcome to bring your pamphlets and business cards, to be added to the "goodie" bags.

We have prizes up for grabs and we have delicious treats on the menu.

You can exhibit your product
If you would like to exhibit your product for all to see at the event, contact me to book your space.  Space limited.  T's & C's apply.

Introduce yourself and your business - 30 seconds.
Say who you are and what you do - every delegate gets to do this.

More details about the event, our speakers and their companies to follow soon.

"Dear Andeline, this serves as to thank you for organising such a wonderful wellness event.  It was really worth our time , I think it opened our eyes as we hardly do health check-ups.  All the speakers were relevant to the theme. At most events they always talk about
women empowerment and business issues , They really don’t talk about health issues that affect us women today ."
